Redraft Waiver Wire Targets: Week 9

Here’s a weekly reminder that byes are at hand! The teams you’re losing players from are: Cardinals, Bengals, Colts, Giants, Eagles and Jaguars. This is one of the two BYE-Pocalypes with 6 teams going on bye. The next one is in week 11 so be prepared for that one as well in preparation for playoff pushes and such.

WR-Kirk & Fitz/Green & Boyd/Hilton/OBJ & Shepard/Agholor & Alshon/Dede, Moncrief & Cole

RB-D. Johnson/Mixon/Mack & Hines/Saquon/Clement & Smallwood/Hyde & Yeldon

TE-Ricky Seals/Uzomah/Ebron & Doyle/Evan Engram/Ertz

PK-Phil Dawson/Bullock/Vinateri/Rosas/Elliot/Lambo

Due to our scheduled releases, this will be completed before the Monday night games as well as before I’ve had time to digest every game in depth. So with that being said,  stay tuned to my tweets @THEffVigilante throughout the week for more gems later on in the week.

Ryan FitzMagic

ESPN Own %: 6

Yahoo Own%: 7

Ride the wild wave at your own peril. Something Shannon Sharpe said that I thought was great concerning Ryan was well, concerning. Shannon said “Ryan plays well when he has nothing to lose”. He has a point and while I agree with him, I also know that he will be a HOT waiver add this week because of the “magic” and because there are 6 QBs on bye. When you need the boom side of “boom/bust”, he is the QB for you!

Baker Mayfield

ESPN Own %: 40

Yahoo Own%: 42

This one is closer to a stretch to be available at nearly 50% (I don’t suggest players over 50%), but he will be there for those who need him. I still like his next few games even with losing a head coach and OC today. You still have to go out and play these games and he has the weapons to do it. KC just gave up 262 and 2 to Case Keenum along with not really stopping opposing QBs . I’m not saying he’s a week winner, but he is a stopgap while we all struggle through these bye weeks.

Derek Carr

ESPN Own %: 15.3

Yahoo Own%: 26

This guy is much more available and looked a lot better this week. Fresh off of a 244 and 3 td day against the Colts (who have improved), he gets the 49ers who are very beatable. Look for him to keep the offense churning in week 9 with his hodgepodge of bargain bin options aka a desolate man’s Tom Brady.

Keke Coutee

ESPN Own %: 18.6

Yahoo Own%: 20

From what I’ve seen, he may be more of the pickup of the week than Ryan Fitzmagic. Fuller is out for the season and the targets have to go somewhere. He’s the next man up with skill to do something with more opportunity. He’s already shown what he can do, so now we’ll get to see it more throughout the year with him being unhindered by the production of both Fuller and Hopkins.

D. J. Moore

ESPN Own %: 10.4

Yahoo Own%: 15

Widely available and coming into his own. He looked great against a defense that is normally stout all around. In some draft circles he was regarded as the best at a plethora of wideout skillsets and overall. He’s worth the grab with other options being less than savory to downright disgusting.

Seth Roberts/Brandon Lafell

ESPN Own %: Available

Yahoo Own%: Available

We saw Martavis not even get much action at all and didn’t even get targeted. Lafell and Seth Roberts tied with Jordy with 4 targets while Cook and Richard had most of the target share. Continue to watch the situation this week and we’ll know where we need to go pickup wise with these guys. Don’t worry about running to grab these guys just yet.

Elijah McGuire

ESPN Own %: 4.3

Yahoo Own%: 6

With Bilal Powell done for the year and Trenton Cannon not wowing just yet, Elijah McGuire has a chance to steal the pass catching role from Cannon. The team loves the kid’s skillset and I wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually split with Crowell. This is more of a D’Onta Foreman type stash for later if you can. However, if he ends up practicing all week, he could get playing time, but I wouldn’t start him unless I absolutely have to.

Ito Smith

ESPN Own %: 32.7

Yahoo Own%: 37

This kid should be on your rosters. He’s playing the Tevin Coleman role and will give you enough production to not kill you week to week. A flex at best or a bye week stopgap, he is worth a roster spot.

Jack Doyle

ESPN Own %: 31.9

Yahoo Own%: 25

This is not something I want to be writing up due to my love for Ebron, but I can’t be biased. Doyle has effectively been dropped in a lot of leagues after being in the 80% owned bracket to begin the season. Yes, they are on bye this week, but you can get a TE1 from waivers to help you out in the second half of the season. Remember, sometimes you have to plan ahead and there’s no time like the present. The Colts don’t have good receiving options after Ebron, Hilton Hines and Doyle so you have to know Doyle will garner heavy opportunity share.

Chris Herdon

ESPN Own %: 5

Yahoo Own%: 6

I don’t like rookie years for TEs but I can’t ignore him being the one to hit paydirt for 3 weeks in a row. It’s foolhardy to bank on TDs especially from this offense, but if you’re in a pinch, he is an option.

As always, I beg of you, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for add/drop transactions. Someone always drops valuable players during the waivers. Bye weeks are actively wrecking some teams that have multiple players on the same bye, valuable players will become available in the coming weeks. You set yourself up in the draft, you win through waivers! Go get your #waiverxmas on and come home with a #Top2TypeVictory!
