The NFL season rolls along and with it, the tough start or sit decisions that we’ll be faced with all year. If you would like to know how I do in these start/sit columns then be sure to follow me on twitter @TheFF_Taters. Every Tuesday I will post the names of my starts and sits then put a check or an X to signify whether it was a good call because it is important to be accountable in fantasy football. It is never my intention to lead those that read these articles astray and I try to be as accurate as possible.

With that said, let’s move on to Week 5 of the NFL season, which just so happens to be the worst fantasy week of the season. Why? Because the Dolphins are on a bye week and therefore nobody is playing them.

QB Start

Tom Brady @ WAS

Overthinking it is a real disease in Fantasy Football. If you or a loved one suffers from Overthinking then contact the fantasy football outlet nearest you. Seriously, the Bills defense is likely the best defense the Patriots will face all year. Washington has surrendered 10 touchdowns over the first 4 weeks of the season, which is tied for second most in the league.

 Kyler Murray @ CIN

It just feels like a huge game is coming for Kyler Murray at some point and this might be it. Cincinnati is 0-4 and just not playing good football at the moment. They have been getting torched mostly on the ground but I think a mobile QB like Murray could cause a ton of problems.

RB Start

Austin Ekeler @ DEN

I get it with Gordon being back you might be hesitant to start Ekeler but don’t be. He has been lighting up EVERYONE this season. The Chargers need to find a way to keep Ekeler on the field. The Broncos have been awful against the run and just lost Bradley Chubb. I expect LA to score early and often so don’t be afraid to flex Ekeler this weekend.

Derrick Henry VS BUF

I feel as if recency bias might be in play here and some may be scared off on starting Henry this week. Buffalo has a great defense but they can be run on. Bell played well in week 1, Saquon was Saquon in week 2, Mixon had his best game of the season in week 3 and Sony Michel was looking good until the Patriots oddly went away from the run game. I think Henry is the perfect back to really bust up that defense a bit and I would start him with confidence.

WR Start

Josh Gordon @ WAS

I feel very good about the patriots’ chances against the second worst defense against wide receivers this week. Gordon has been looking a bit stiff but he’s still capable of a huge game and I think we might get one this weekend. Edelman, Dorsett and Gordon all look like solid starts this week but with Edelman battling a chest injury I think the Pats may lean on Gordon a bit more.

Phillip Dorsett @ WAS

Yea again… Washington is just horrendous against wide receivers this year. With the aforementioned Edelman injury, the ball will likely be spread to the others. Dorsett has quietly been the most consistent Pats receiver through 4 weeks. He is currently WR28 in PPR formats and has blossomed into a very reliable target for Tom Brady. He should be rostered in all leagues.

TE Start

Eric Ebron @ KC

In a game where the Colts are going to have to play keep-up, Ebron should be a solid Sunday night start. The Chiefs have given up the 5th most receiving yards to opposing tight ends. Ebron had a brutal game last week suffering from a case of the drops. He said after it would never happen again. I believe him. Fire him up this week.

Jared Cook VS TB

I know it’s tough to rely on Teddy here against a defense that’s been making plays but Tampa Bay is quietly giving up the second most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. Cook could be a solid play in a game that will likely be high scoring.

QB Sit

Gardner Minshew @ Carolina

I hate myself for this because I am the conductor of the Minshew mania train at the moment. However, Carolina is tied for the league lead in sacks and has been rough against opposing QBs. I love Gardner as much as anyone but this week he’s a bold play.

Baker Mayfield @ SF

I really didn’t want to put Baker here but San Francisco has been impressive on defense. They have revamped themselves into a team with a dominant defensive line and a pretty good secondary. Baker could be under quite a bit of duress in this one.

RB Sit

Josh Jacobs VS CHI

London calling! The Raiders look to raid jolly ole England and will have a whale of a time in doing so. They arrive in front of Big Ben with hope in their hearts and a fresh coat of black for their eye patch. Unfortunately, London has a bear problem. They’re from Chicago and they’re looking to eat. Steer clear of Jacobs this week.

Wayne Gallman VS MIN

The lovely Giants resurgence was fun but that’s over now. Here come the real teams and first up is a Vikings defense that might be just a bit angry. Due to the lack of offense, the Vikings defense has had to carry the team. I expect the Giants to lean more heavily on their passing game in this one.

WR Sit

Michael Gallup VS GB

I like Gallup and it was unfortunate that he suffered the injury after a solid start to the year but this game has him in a tough spot. Green Bay has allowed the fewest amount of receiving yards to opposing WRs and they are legit. Wait one more week before inserting Gallup back into your lineups.

AJ Brown VS BUF

I know Brown has had a solid start to his career and clearly is going to be a stud but this week he faces a Buffalo pass defense that has allowed one lonely receiving touchdown through 4 weeks. I like the Titans’ run game more than their passing game in this one.

TE Sit

Delanie Walker VS BUF

I think you know by now how I feel about the Titans passing game’s chances against the Buffalo defense. Mariota better be doing a lot of handing off or this could get ugly for him. On top of all of this about the Buffalo defense is the fact that the past two times Tennessee and Buffalo have faced each other, the games have been extremely low scoring.

Darren Waller VS CHI

Waller has put up double-digit fantasy points all 4 weeks this season. I think that streak ends in London against Chicago. This just feels like a wheels falling off type of game for Oakland. Waller has been outstanding so if he proves me wrong again this weekend then I will stop putting him on my sit list.
