Through 5 weeks of the NFL season, player values in dynasty have drastically changed. Some players have lost value due to poor performances and others have gained value due to exceeding expectations. The hard part about these changing values is figuring out if these players are going to retain their new value or go back to their previous value. Here are three players that have gained value that you should be targeting because they will continue producing and be worth the price.
Christian McCaffery, RB, Carolina Panthers
The major thing that I have learned this year is that Christian McCaffery is Carolina’s offense. Despite Week 2 against Tampa, which was in terrible conditions, McCaffery’s lowest total yardage in a game has been 179 yards. That’s absolutely ridiculous! Some might be concerned about his ability to hold up with all of that work, but this guy is an animal. He is the ultimate professional, constantly working in the offseason and trying to improve. With Cam out and showing very little promise for the future, Carolina is going to continue to run their offense through McCaffery. He is officially my top player in dynasty and would give up any player in any format straight up for McCaffery. It’s going to cost you but will be well worth it down the road.
Amari Cooper, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Amari Cooper has been one of my favorites since he entered the NFL. The biggest issue for Cooper has been his inconsistency. Since the start of this season, Cooper has shown that he can be relied on every week. His one dud week came against New Orleans, where he was matched up with Marshon Latimore. Although he only had 4 catches for 48 yards in this matchup, he still had 8 targets. Cooper has become a focal part of this Dallas offense and is currently on pace for over 100 receptions on the season. I would be willing to pay top 10 WR prices for Cooper and be excited about his future.
Dawson Knox, TE, Buffalo Bills
Dawson Knox was a Fanalysts favorite throughout the 2019 NFL Draft process. Knox was the forgotten man in an Ole Miss offense that had AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, and Demarkus Lodge. Knox still was able to showcase impressive film and had a very impressive performance at the combine. Knox has a 70th percentile or higher Speed Score, Burst Score, Agility Score, and Catch Radius (playerprofiler.com). Knox has all of the athleticism and talent to be a premier tight end in this league. As he continues to get more integrated into the Buffalo offense, I can easily see Knox becoming a low-end TE1. At this point, I would be willing to pay a mid-late 2020 2nd rounder for Knox.
